While this will be difficult to do if you live on or if your job is on a extremely high level floor in a skyscraper, taking the stairs to a home or office on, say, the fifth floor is entirely do-able. Even if your office or home is on one of the highest floors, you can decide to get off of the elevator early and take the stairs the remainder of the way. Lots of people choose the easy elevator ride instead of making an efforts on the stairs. Even just a sole flight of stairs, when walked up or down a few times a day--can be a great improvement to your system.
Pick water over other refreshments. Drinking a soda or cup of coffee once in awhile won't hurt you too badly. Using them for your only source of hydration, however, is dumb. Choosing water instead of other beverage adds to your body's health and allows it stay hydrated. This also helps you decrease your caloric intake by hundreds of points without requiring you to buy and eat gross diet foods. Water is often the key to successful weight-loss and healthfulness.
There are a lot of things that factor into getting healthy. An costly gym membership and very hard to stick to diets are not the only way to do it.
