Ingredients of Hot cross buns

  1. Prepare 4 cups of wheat flour.
  2. You need 6 tbs of sugar.
  3. It's 2 1/4 tsp of instant yeast.
  4. Prepare 1 of large egg.
  5. Prepare 1/4 cup of butter or margarine.
  6. It's 1 tsp of salt.
  7. It's 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  8. You need 300 ml of water.
  9. Prepare of Orange peel.
  10. Prepare of Raisins.
  11. You need of Orange marmalade for glazing.
  12. It's 4 tbs of wheat flour added into 2 tbsp water to make a thick paste.

  1. Pre- heat oven 375 degrees. Warm the water...
  2. Meanwhile mix 2 tbsp sugar and yeast.
  3. Add warm water to yeast- sugar mixture..stir n let settle for 5 mins. Cover..
  4. Meanwhile..mix the other dry ingredients...flour, 4 tbs sugar,salt, cinnamon,orange peel..
  5. Add the butter and use fingertips to mix flour mixture to the butter..
  6. Into the yeast mixture which should now have risen,add the egg and mix well..
  7. Add yeast mixture into wheat flour and mix well. Knead the dough until no longer sticky..
  8. Cover and leave for 1 hour in a warm place.
  9. After 1 hour, knead again and cut into small portions and shape into balls..
  10. Cover and let rise again for 45 mins..
  11. After 45 mins uncover and draw crosses using the wheat flour paste..
  12. Bake for 20-25 mins. 375 degrees the first ten mins...then 350 degrees remaining 15 mins..

Preptime: 20 Minutes

Cooktime: 34 Minutes

Serve: 3 Persons
